-A staff member at Valley Oak Elementary at Champlain and Friant got stuck in an in-ground ventilation shaft. Fresno FD responded, and got her out. She suffered some scrapes...and a bruised ego.
-On Monday, August 8, 2011, Sanger Police found a 100 year old elderly man beaten in his home. The man was Joe Fischer, a military veteran. He was taken to Community Hospital (C.R.M.C.) in Fresno, where he passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011. Police found no signs of forced entry (which means that the attacker(s) was\were already inside of the home), and Mr. Fischer’s wounds were not from a fall. The suspect(s) have not been caught yet.

-Residents in the area of California and Clovis got a rude awakening when a semi truck crashed through a block-lite wall and into two yards. The truck driver was arrested for driving under the influence (D.U.I.), and may have been driving with a suspended license. If he was driving with the suspended license, his employers may have some explaining to do to the California Highway Patrol.
-An irrigation worker got stuck in a stand-pipe out near Reedley, and had to be lifted out by units from CalFire and Fresno County Fire. He was not seriously hurt.
