Weirdos And Wind Edition!

‭NOVEMBER 30, 2011
‭A man in Room #234 at the Manchester Motel at Blackstone & Dakota lit his room on fire, and squeezed off a few rounds from his gun at about 1:15pm. Fresno Police and Fire arrived to find the room fully engulfed in flames. Our "Bravest" put out the fire, and our "Finest" took the very disturbed man into custody nearby. More police were called for traffic control on Blackstone due to all the fire apparatus in the area.

>High Wind Event...All events took place between 2:00am and 4:20pm on December 1, 2011. Some events from the television or personal experience.

>POWER LINES DOWN:
- Copper near Armstrong, string of down lines\poles.
- Pole down at Peach and Madison.
- Thousands (22K) without power in Central Valley.
- McKinley and Grantland.

>TRAFFIC LIGHTS OUT\FLASHING RED:
- Belmont and Peach (area), power out to area, red flashing lights at Belmont and Highway 180.
- Bullard between Freeway 41 and Maroa.
- Palm and Herndon.
- Along Ashlan.
- Ashlan between Blythe and Cornelia.

>TREES DOWN:
- Villa Margarita Apartments. Three down, at least two are 50ft. tall. One leaned against building.
- First, hit car with four in it, no injuries.
- Pollasky and Clovis...one hit a bank.
- Van Ness and Tulare, across Courthouse Park parking garage exit.
- Woodward and Roeding Park closed due to safety concerns.

>BLOWING DEBRIS\PROPERTY DAMAGE:
- I.F.O.'s (Identified Flying Objects) everywhere.
- Friant and Copper (dust).
- Shaw and Palm area (dust).
- Shaw and Palm, 25ft. inside CVS Pharmacy (leaves).
- Various minor damage at various mobile homes in San Joaquin Village MHP.

>FIRE:
- A 50ft. tree took out gas line forcing a temporary evacuation at the Villa Margarita Apartments.
- Large 2-alarm house fire on Fruit and Ashlan, flames whipped by winds, caused by down power lines on roof.
- 2-alarm house fire: Pontiac and 7th, with power and cable lines across roof.

>ACCIDENTS:
- Hit and run traffic accident at Blackstone and Shields, suspect(s) goes a block away (Shields and Glenn), leg bail. Officers receive some citizen help. Fluid in road, WB Shields JEO Blackstone.
- Warren and Clinton.
- Shaw in front of Fashion Fair Mall.
- Vehicle vs. building post, Citibank lot, Blackstone and Ashlan, driver injured driver.

>“WHAT THE!?”:
- FFD traveling through Palm and Shaw, female driver darts out into intersection, cuts off fire engine.
